Methods of Commissioning Lighting Devices


Before new lighting devices will work with SiteWorx, they must be added to a Mapfile and commissioned to a gateway. This process is completed by installers or a commissioning agent using the Commissioner software program in combination with a USB wireless adapter. There are 3 methods to add new lighting devices, each of which is explained in this article. Once you've selected a method, click on it to learn how to complete commissioning.

If you're commissioning a replacement device, follow these instructions instead.

Method 1: Import CSV Data

This method is recommended for all new installations larger than 50 lighting devices (sensors/fixtures). It is not recommended for small additions or troubleshooting.

Method 2: Serial Number Entry

This method is recommended for installations under 50 lighting devices or for troubleshooting.

Method 3: Wireless Discovery

This method is recommended for additions of 10 or less lighting devices, situations where the serial number of the target lighting device is unknown, or for troubleshooting.

Serial numbers must be tracked by installers so that the commissioning agent knows where each device is located on the facility map. Use of the wireless discovery method to discover serial numbers is time-intensive and is strongly discouraged when the scope exceeds 10 devices.
