Commission a Lighting Device: Wireless Discovery

The guide below details how to add fixtures using the import CSV data method. This method is recommended for additions of 10 or less lighting devices, situations where the serial number of the target lighting device is unknown, or for troubleshooting. It involves following a wizard in Commissioner and adding one fixture at a time, using the USB wireless device to find and commission the device.

  1. Open Commissioner and plug in the DLUSB
  2. Position your laptop nearby the target device, ideally directly underneath
  3. Click add Fixtures (if necessary, add a Zone first)
  4. In the dialog, select the option "discovering them using a USB Wireless Adapter" then click Next



  5. Select the device's current network from the dropdown menu and click Discover
    1. If the device is new, leave as Factory Default Network
    2. If uncertain, click click Scan for Networks at the bottom left, then click Discover for each available network until you find the device



  6. After the discovery process is complete, the detected sensor(s) will appear in the menu. Click once on each fixture to find the target one
    1. A few seconds after selection, the selected sensor and fixture will start blinking
  7. Once the correct fixture has been found, click Next
  8. Enter data about the device
    1. Current network (leave as default unless otherwise known)
    2. Name - enter a useful name for the device, or leave as-is and use the bulk re-name tool later on
    3. Zone - select the Zone that the device should be added to
  9. Click Program Now
    1. If the device is a sensor, complete characterization (a prompt will appear if required)
  10. After programming is complete, click Close
