Programming RMA Replacement Hardware
Overview
RMA replacement hardware needs to be programmed in order to communicate with SiteWorx. Remote programming of RMA replacement hardware is offered free of charge for customers with an active SiteWorx subscription.
In order for remote programming to be successful, SiteWorx Operations needs to know the exact location of where each serial number was installed. Additionally the hardware needs to be in wireless communication range of a gateway that is connected to SiteWorx.
Process
For each replacement, SiteWorx needs to know the serial number of the malfunctioning hardware that was removed as well as the serial number of the replacement hardware installed at that location.
- For RMAs of less than five replacements, the serial numbers can be provided via email in the format of "serial number A replaced with serial number B" or by using the SiteWorx_RMA_replacement_tracking.xlsx template located in the Attachments at the bottom of this article.
- For RMAs of five or more replacements, the serial numbers should be provided by using the SiteWorx_RMA_replacement_tracking.xlsx template located in the Attachments at the bottom of this article.
Serial numbers are always 8 hexadecimal characters (0-9 and A-F) in length and located on a label attached to the hardware. Some hardware also contains an additional serial number label sticker that can be used for replacement tracking.
The SWN-TRH is the only hardware that cannot be programmed remotely. As the SWN-TRH is battery powered and predominantly in sleep mode in order to conserve battery, the SWN-TRH must be
programmed using Commissioner software.
