Create Initial Groups

Overview

Only follow this article during initial commissioning. If the site has already been deployed to SiteWorx, follow these instructions to modify groups in the SiteWorx WebApp.

SiteWorx users configure lighting settings and control strategies according to control "Groups", which can be created irrespective of which Zone or Network lighting devices are assigned to. Groups follow a hierarchical Parent>Child structure, where every group has a parent up to the Site level (root group). Users will be able to define settings in parent groups to quickly apply the same settings to all child groups, and split out settings for certain child groups where required.

Commissioner provides an interface to quickly create and assign large quantities of lighting nodes to control Groups prior to the map being uploaded to SiteWorx. Once the map has been uploaded, Groups should not be edited in Commissioner since any changes made in SiteWorx do not propagate back to Commissioner and could be overwritten.

Workflow

1. In Commissioner, navigate to Groups
   
2. Click Add Group
   
3. Specify a name for the new group, and select it's Parent group from the dropdown
   
1. The permanent Parent Group, at the Site level, is the Root Group
   
   
   
   
4. Continue creating the remainder of the group structure, adding all logical Parent and Child groups based on the customer's desired control scheme
   
5. Once all groups are added, assign fixtures to Child Groups (the lowest level groups - any group that contains no child group below it)
   
1. Use the selection tool in the graphical map interface to bulk-select the target fixtures
   
2. Right-click a selected fixture, then click Edit Fixture
   
3. Select the desired group from the Group dropdown menu
   
4. Click Ok
