Commission an RCP

Commission an RCP

Before you Begin

Overview

The SWN-RCP is a plug load control receptacle that can function as an occupancy-based load controller, when used in conjunction with SiteWorx Tune and Sense.

The SWN-RCP is a Zigbee 3.0 device and requires installation and commissioning processes that vary from traditional SiteWorx Mesh Network devices.
  1. The SWN-RCP, along with other Zibgee 3.0 devices, should be commissioned to a gateway that controls only Zigbee 3.0 devices. Zigbee 3.0 devices may not be mixed with SiteWorx Mesh Network devices on the same network or gateway.
  2. The SWN-RCP, along with other Zigbee 3.0 devices, requires a separate map generated by CommissionerZ
  3. Syncing occurs remotely by SiteWorx Operations, and should be scheduled one week ahead of time
Alert
SWN-RCP devices, like all Zigbee 3.0 devices, must operate on their own gateway network.
Warning
Schedule remote commissioning ahead of time by emailing siteworxops@siteworx.io with one week notice.

Necessary Items

  1. CommissionerZ - download for Mac or download for Windows
  2. QR-code sticker map and book
  3. Highly Recommended: Camera Device
    1. 2D barcode scanner
    2. Laptop with webcam
    3. iPhone/Android with working Bluetooth® and camera

Workflow

  1. Open CommissionerZ and Create a New Mapfile. Note Zones are not required, only Gateways
    1. It is possible to display Zigbee 3.0 and SiteWorx Mesh nodes on the same Area map in SiteWorx. The maps will be uploaded separately and overlaid, so the background image and scale should match identically between the two files. If the maps will be kept as separate Areas, the background and scales can vary
  2. Ensure all Gateways have been added to the mapfile
  3. Add SWN-RCP devices using one of the methods below
    1. Add devices one at a time
      1. Click Add Nodes
      2. Enter a Node Name
      3. Type in the EUID and Install Code, or use a camera to scan the QR code
      4. If necessary, set the Device Type to SWN-RCP. Attributes will auto-populate
      5. Select the appropriate Gateway
      6. Group, and Description are not required and will not show in SiteWorx
    2. Add devices in bulk
      1. Click File > Save Import Template File
      2. Select Excel or CSV format, then click Save and save to a memorable location on your computer
      3. Open the file. Note that any line that begins with a "#" is ignored
      4. Use a 2D barcode scanner to add the EUID and Install Code of each SWN-RCP to each row
      5. For each row, enter a Name, X,Y Coordinate, Device Type, associated Gateway Serial Number, and optionally, a Description
        1. Device Type should be exactly: SWN-RCP-ST
      6. Save the file as a CSV
      7. In CommissionerZ, click File > Import Map Data, then select the file
      8. Devices will be placed onto the map. Drag them to their final position
  4. Save the map and email it to siteworxops@siteworx.io
    1. Reference the case number for the scheduled commissioning date
  5. Standby for confirmation from SiteWorx Ops and be prepared to complete a required power cycle of all SWN-RCP devices. Additional power cycles may be required
