Install Commissioner

Mac Installation

Installation Instructions
  1. Download Commissioner, then double-click the dmg file
  2. Read the software license, then click Agree



  3. Drag the Commissioner icon to the Applications folder



"Unknown Developer" Error Message
The first time you open Commissioner, you may receive an "Unknown Developer" error message. Close the message, and use the steps below to open Commissioner.
  1. Go to System Preferences > Security and Privacy
  2. Scroll down and click Open Anyway
or:
  1. Drag the Commissioner icon to the dock
  2. Right-click the Commissioner icon in the dock and then select Open
Driver Installation - M1 Macs (2020 and newer)
Commissioner will prompt the user to install the USB driver during installation.

However, if the user ignores the prompt, the driver can be manually downloaded here:

A security issue may prevent Commissioner from communicating with the USB denoted by the error message below:


Resolve System Extension Blocked Error

If you receive the error message above, try following the steps below to resolve:
  1. Click the Apple menu and then select System Preferences
  2. Click Security & Privacy



  3. At the bottom of the dialog, you may see a message noting System software from developer '...' was blocked from loading
    1. If you see this message, click Allow. Stop here, the problem should be resolved
    2. If you do not see this message, restart your computer and follow these instructions again
    3. If the Allow button still doesn't appear, uninstall Commissioner by dragging it to the Trash, then reinstall
Driver Installation - Non-M1 Macs (older than 2020)
Additional driver installation is not required.

However, a security issue may prevent Commissioner from communicating with the USB denoted by the error message below:



Resolve System Extension Blocked Error

If you receive the error message above, try following the steps below to resolve:
  1. Click the Apple menu and then select System Preferences
  2. Click Security & Privacy



  3. At the bottom of the dialog, you may see a message noting System software from developer '...' was blocked from loading.
    1. If you see this message, click Allow. Stop here, the problem should be resolved.
    2. If you do not see this message, restart your computer and follow these instructions again.
      1. If Allow button still doesn't appear, continue to Uninstall the System Extension Files below.

Uninstall the System Extension Files

Only follow the instructions below if you have a non-M1 Mac and the instructions above were unsuccessful.
  1. Close Commissioner
  2. Go to Finder, select the Go menu, then Go To Folder, then enter: /System/Library/Extensions



  3. Look for a file called SiLabsUSBDriver.kext.  If you have SiLabsUSBDriver.kext and/or SiLabsUSBDriver64.kext, these are old drivers.  Delete them by dragging them into the Trash.
  4. Close the dialog
  5. Go to Finder, select the Go menu, then Go To Folder, then enter: /Library/Extensions (Note, this is a different folder than in Step 3)
  6. Drag SiLabsUSBDriver.kext into the Trash to delete the driver



  7. Uninstall Commisioner and related files by dragging Commissioner from the Applications folder into the Trash
  8. Download and re-install Commissioner. The program should ask about installing the drivers for the USB wireless adapter.  Click Yes and the new drivers will be will be installed into /Library/Extensions
  9. Immediately perform the Allow system software from new developer steps listed above, in Resolve System Extension Blocked Error.
 

Windows Installation

Installation Instructions
  1. Download Commissioner, then double-click the msi installer file
  2. Read the license agreement and click Agree
  3. Complete the installation wizard, then click Close
Required: Proceed to the Driver Installation section below.
Windows Driver Installation

Install "Telegesis" USB Wireless Adapter Driver

  1. Install Commissioner (instructions above)
  2. Plug in the USB wireless adapter
  3. Open Device Manager (refer to Windows Help for details)



  4. Right-click Telegesis USB Device
  5. Select Update Driver Software



  6. Select Browse my computer for the driver software



  7. Click Browse, select the C:\Program Files\Digital Lumens\Drivers\TelegesisUSB_Driver folder, and then click Next.
    1. If applicable: Click Install this Driver Software Anyway at the security prompt.



  8. Click Close
